Psi-value (Thermal Bridging) Calculations

With the introduction of updated building regulations and SAP10, bespoke Psi-Values are now pivotal in improving the Design Fabric Energy Efficiency Rating or DFEE in a SAP calculation.  Additionally, with the omission of the Accredited Construction Details scheme (ACDs), using calculated Psi-Values becomes the principle way to avoid the use of default values.

Psi-Value (or Ψ-Value) is the difference in thermal performance between the junction and the element in which it is located and can be positive or negative.  The additional heat losses from these junctions and their detailing can account for over 20% of the total heat loss through the building fabric.
